I first heard this song on a commercial several years ago (Macy’s? The Gap? Target?) and it instantly became one of my favorites. It’s by Kay Starr, who passed away last November.

The other day I posted the very joyous, uplifting “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” by Andy Williams, so I thought I’d post something very different today. It’s a beautiful tune written by Carol Hall for the play The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Dolly Parton does a great version. This is sung by Leigh Nash.

She’s been called the female Mel Blanc, but some people call Mel Blanc the male June Foray. The voice actress died last week at the age of 99. She worked for 85 years, starting with a role on radio in 1929 (playing an old woman) right up until a few years ago.
